Oi gente.

Hi guys. Today we are going to cover a very important issue that afflicts many women who have breast cancer and want to get pregnant and breastfeed their newborn baby.

Can you breastfeed a child when you make a mastectomy?

Breast cancer is a disease that afflicts women in many ways. Aesthetically, psychologically and especially when the woman wants to be a mother. Many fears, anxieties and questions comes up.

Will I survive? Will my boyfriend or husband want me without a breast? I am pregnant, will I be able to breastfeed? How will I look in the mirror? These are very relevant questions, however you should think in a different way. I’m alive. I will survive. I’m beautiful. I have a son who needs me. Clear that for every person the specter of disease has a different weight.

So it is recommended to make a monthly self-examination. Go to the gynecologist at least once a year and from the age of 35 have a mammogram every year for check-up.

Breastfeeding X Mastectomy

Yes, it is possible that if you have to remove one breast you can breastfeed. However the treatments or the disease itself can make breastfeeding difficult, so it’s good to follow up with the oncologist and breast cancer specialist for periodic evaluations.

Some studies show that women with breast cancer breastfeeding her son, has greater chances for a positive outcome with respect to the degree of the disease. The act of breastfeeding is a time of delivery and love your child, so this time is so important for you and the baby.

This exchange of love makes both you and your child have more willingness to everyday life. Women who breastfeed transform this act on health for your child. Contributes to the formation of the immune system, prevents allergies, obesity, gluten intolerance, prevents anemia, while sucking the baby develops the dental arch.

So even if you have breast cancer, and only have one breast, is pregnant or just gave birth, you should breastfeed your child. The benefits are both for him and for you.

Have a wonderful weekend!
