Wide Pants for Summer

by Gabrielle Loomis May 21, 2018
written by Gabrielle Loomis

SHOP THE POST

Last week for Mother’s Day, I wanted to wear something chic and casual for brunch. I’ve had those wide stripped pants for a while but had never worn it before. Those pants are fun, bold, and definitely a statement. I think they are great to wear on cool summer days because they are very light. They are also great to take on vacation. Instead of wearing a black, white, or grey top (the obvious colors), I decided to wear this toast tan top with those stripped pants. I think the colors worked really well together. Sometimes you have to try something different to see if you like it. That’s the beauty of fashion! This top is a favorite of mine. I’ve worn it many, many times and I have it in red too. Definitely a must in my opinion and the price you can’t beat. On sale for only $12.

Happy Mother’s Day!

SHOP THE POST

Happy Mother’s Day to all momma’s out there! Today I am happy to celebrate this special day with my two children, my hubby, and his family. I wish my mom and my grandma lived closer so I could give them a big squeezy hug but instead, I will blow them kisses through FaceTime.

Let’s talk about this dress and those gorgeous flowers, shall we? I am always looking for the perfect polka dot dress and this one is pretty close to perfection. This dress reminds me of a polka dot dress that Julia Roberts wore on the movie Pretty Woman but modern. Maybe that’s why I was drawn to it. I was surprised at the price of this dress, only $45 and it fits great. This is a wrap dress and I am wearing a size small. I wanted to take some pretty Mother’s Day photos with the kids and I thought this dress would be perfect for that as well. Too bad Alex fell asleep in the car and didn’t take pictures. As for those flowers, I received them from Flowers for Dreams. This company delivers flowers to the Milwaukee and Chicago area. For every bouquet they sold, a percentage is donated to an amazing local charity. Their bouquets are seriously beautiful. I would buy them not only for Mother’s Day but for any occasion.

Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!

xoxo, Gabrielle

What’s Your Season?

by Gabrielle Loomis May 3, 2018
written by Gabrielle Loomis

SHOP THE POST

I wait all winter for this kind of weather: warm and sunny! I grew up in Brazil and spent most of my years going to the beach on the weekends no matter what season it was. In Brazil, our winters are warm just like San Diego. When that little bit of warm weather shows up in Wisconsin, I get all excited to be outside and to wear summer clothes! To me, there’s nothing like Summer Fashion. That’s my favorite season to dress up and play with outfits. This Spring and Summer I am excited to wear some trendy pieces like this Rattan Bag. I totally get why I’m seeing these bags all over Instagram, because they are that cool! I got mine from a small shop called Filigrana Artesian. I think this bag is the representation of summer: natural, tan, and beachy. The other must-have item of the season is the espadrille platforms. I got mine from Sole Society and they were so popular that it’s hard to find them in-store or online! Luckily, I did find them at a couple of different stores but sizes are limited. I linked a few other very similar sandals for you guys too.

What’s your season? What do you love to wear the most on your favorite season?

Being Present and Living in the Moment…

by Gabrielle Loomis May 1, 2018

SHOP THE POST

Hello, my dear readers! Can you believe today is May 1st? Can we all agree that this year is flying by?! Speaking about that…I came to the realization that when you have children, life goes by in a blink of an eye. I mean, Rapha is 3 years old and Alex will turn 1 in July! As I get rid of the postpartum depression (I will talk about that in a later post), I think I have been more present and living in the moment. When your kids need you, you put everything else you are doing on pause. At least I do that. It’s important to give them the attention they need and have plenty of fun along the way!

Today I had a list of things to do: laundry, dishes, and clean the house. I decided to put that aside and enjoy the beautiful and warm day with the kids outside. I think it’s okay that my house is messy as long I am with my children teaching them how to be good human beings. We never know what will happen tomorrow so enjoy today!

GETTING BACK IN SHAPE AFTER BABY #2

by Gabrielle Loomis April 16, 2018
written by Gabrielle Loomis

SHOP THE POST

I think it’s safe to say that most moms want to get back in shape after pregnancy, myself included. On both my pregnancies I ate what I craved and when I was hungry (pretty much all day). I also kept myself active during pregnancy. I knew that after labor and with my doctor’s approval, I was going to go back to exercising. I had a cesarian again with baby number two so, I had to wait longer to start hitting the weights. Meanwhile, I tried eating less and healthy even though I didn’t have much appetite.

When Alex was born our gym membership had just expired. My husband and I didn’t know if we wanted to renew it or not. We decided that making our trip to the gym and back would take too long and we didn’t think it would be easy with two kids. We then decided to invest in a great elliptical for our home. We tested one that we just loved and thought it was worth the splurge. If you are wondering which one we got it’s the Matrix A50 from Johnson Fitness and Wellness. This is a big piece of equipment and one of the best in the market. Anyways, I used our elliptical about 4 times a week but I felt that I needed a more “complete” exercise. I had heard great things about the Kayla Itsines BBG (Bikini Body Guide) program so I decided to add that to my exercise routine. Her exercise program lasts 28 minutes. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday you follow the program which consists of upper body, lower body, and abs. Each day has a different exercise routine. On Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday you can either do LISS (Low-Intensity Steady State cardio) or HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training). I usually do the Sprint 8 Program as my HIIT exercise (20 minutes of interval sprints). I occasionally go for a run on the tracks since it’s better on your knees. Since my knees can hurt when I ran, I don’t run too often even though I really enjoy it.

I did 5 weeks of BBG before I went to Hawaii in January. I was so determined to be in a better shape before our trip that I workout out really hard. I knew I was going to be in a bikini every day so I was very motivated at that time. When I got back from vacation I stopped the program for about two months. I wasn’t doing it consistently and I kept making excuses not to workout. It’s so easy to fall behind and stop exercising. Luckily, I had a great group of friends on Instagram who were doing the program and kept me motivated to start over. Right now I am on week 8 of the program and I feel great! I don’t have a 6-pack or anything but I feel great. Even though 8 weeks doesn’t sound much, I noticed a big difference in my body. In the beginning of the program, I could barely do 5 pushups. Now I can easily do 15 or more. I feel stronger and good about my body. I think I look in better shape than I was before I was pregnant.

If you are looking into getting in shape, I 100 percent recommend Kayla’s BBG program. You can check out her Instagram page (@kayla_itsines) to see how many lives her program has changed! I have to say, sometimes I dread working out but, I push myself to do it. The more consistent you are, the more you create a habit of exercising. The great thing about the program is that you start slow and gradually advance to a higher level.

Here are few things that help me with my workouts:

  1. Working out as early as possible. If it’s too late in the day, I end up getting tired or lazy and I don’t do it.
  2. Cute workout clothes! Yes, that keeps me motivated. Those beautiful leggings from LILYBOD are awesome. They have tons of different looking leggings. I love them and I need more! Check out their website for more options: https://usa.lilybod.com/
  3. Have something to look forward to. Summer and going on a vacation always keeps me motivated.
  4. Imagine how great you will feel when your workout is over. I always have a sense of accomplishment when I am done working out.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Now I want to hear from you! Do you struggle to exercise? Tell me your story!

Have a wonderful weekend!

LIFE BEFORE KIDS

by Gabrielle Loomis April 13, 2018
written by Gabrielle Loomis

Life before kids was very different. We used to go out on the weekends and drink with friends, we used to lay on the couch and binge watch tv shows and we didn’t care if all we ate for dinner was smoothies and cereal. Now our kids are our number 1 priority and everything we do, we do thinking about them first. You may be thinking: “gee that sounds no fun.” The truth is, as much as I miss my freedom of doing whatever da heck I want to do, I wouldn’t change my life for that. My kids may drive me crazy but they sure put a big smile on my face. All the snuggles and the sincere “I love you mummy” are the best things in the world.

If you are a parent, share with me one of the best things about being a parent!

OPI LISBON INFINITE SHINE SPRING COLLECTION & NAIL PAINTING TRICKS

by Gabrielle Loomis April 8, 2018
written by Gabrielle Loomis

When I came to the US over 9 years ago, I was studying English and getting paid minimum wage to watch my kid’s host family. I didn’t have the luxury to go to a nail salon and get my nails done (even though it wasn’t that expensive). I felt like I could do my nails myself and same the money. I took me a lot of trial and error to become good at painting my own nails. After so many years of doing them myself, I can confidently say that I do a “pretty darn” good job, ha. Yes, once in a while I go to a salon to get them done but 90 percent of the time I paint them myself. Throughout the years I have bought so many nail polishes I think I became addicted to buying them. Just kidding. I have tried many different brands of nail polishes. Some of them I will never buy again. There’s something to say about the OPI brand. Their nail polish is of high quality and worth the splurge. I received complimentary from OPI the Lisbon Infinite Shine Bundle Trio 3 plus Top & Basecoat for testing. This Spring nail polish collection offers a range of bright, vibrant hues that highlight the natural beauty of Lisbon (Portugal). I am looking forward to trying all the colors to see which ones are my favorite. I had never tried their primer and top coat before but now that I have, I will make sure that I will always include that in my nails routine. Click HERE to see the full OPI LISBON collection!

The primer helped the longevity of the color and the shine definitely kept the color shiny!

If you want to start painting your nails at home, here are some of my tricks:

1. I always remove my cuticles after I shower since the cuticles get soft in the warm water. I tend to do this one day, and paint them the next day. I do that because there are many steps to getting your nails prepared before painting and I don’t have a lot of time because I am all day with my two kids.

2. Use cuticles pusher to easily remove the excess.

3. File nails, clean dust from under the nails and wash your hands.

4. Moisturize hands.

5. Apply primer, two coats of nail polish and lastly, apply one coat of shine.

If I get nail polish on my fingers, usually don’t bother about it because it always comes of in the shower. If I have somewhere to go after I paint my nails, then I use a little bit of nail polish remover to clean those spots.

Hope you guys liked today’s post! Try out those tips and let me know if they worked for you!

by Gabrielle Loomis March 13, 2018
written by Gabrielle Loomis

Hello and happy Wednesday everyone! Things have been busy at the Loomis household. Alex is officially crawling as of two weeks ago and man, he is BUSY! This little boy is everywhere. If I blink he goes across the room. I haven’t had time to do much for myself or to organize/clean the house. I think I need to organize myself better to get things done. Although I’ve been lacking on posting on my blog I’ve been consistent on posting on Instagram for you guys.

Anyways, I’m doing an Instagram roundup of a few things I am wearing a lot lately.

VACATION GUIDE: MAUI, HAWAII!

by Gabrielle Loomis February 4, 2018
written by Gabrielle Loomis

Aloha, my loves! It has been one heck of an awesome 2018 for us. We started the year by going to Maui, HI. As I mentioned before, Hawaii has always been a dream vacation for me and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Anyhow, let me tell you a little bit about our trip and hear me out on some tips if you plan on making your way there sometime in the future. I think you are going to like this vacation guide to Maui, Hawaii.

January is one of my favorite times to travel. Why? Because we love to skip the winter here in the Midwest. January is also a great time to visit Hawaii because it’s not too hot (high 70s, low 80s every day). Since it’s whale season, you can see them swimming in the distance. Every day, we got to see those beautiful creatures from our hotel. Amazing deals on hotel and flight prices are another perk of traveling during this time of the year. Finding your destination’s “off-season” can help you find your vacation for a happier price.

We booked our trip through Costco and they had really great vacation packages. We stayed at Ka’anapali Beach Hotel in Ka’anapali, west of Maui. Our vacation package had everyday breakfast included and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Ka’anapali Beach Hotel‘s everyday breakfast has eggs, french toast, quiche (the best quiche I’ve ever had), oatmeal buffet, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, coffee cakes and more! We would eat so much for breakfast that most of the days we would have only one more meal after that, lunch/dinner. Our hotel was very Hawaiian. They offered free activities every day such as Lei making, Ukelele lessons, Hula lessons, and more. I had the best time learning the Hula and I wish I had taken the Hulaerobics class. I heard that is a fun one. We also had one of the best meals on Sunday Brunch at Ka’anapali Beach Hotel. The variety of food was mind-blowing. They had omelet and carving station, sushi, crab, a chocolate fountain, all sorts of pastries, bread and fruit, to name a few. If you are interested in doing water activities such as surf lessons and standup paddle (SUP) you can do it through Hale Huakaʻi, KBH’s own activity center located right “on” the beach.

Our hotel was located amongst lots of the big resorts. They are one next to the other and on the water. What I loved about the Ka’anapali Beach area is that there’s a beachfront sidewalk that you can go for a walk and go to restaurants, one hotel to another, and a really nice mall called the Whalers Village. This mall is really nice. It has high-end stores and a lot of surf shops like Billabong, Roxy, Quicksilver. I was in heaven surrounded by all the surf shops. In Brazil, I used to shop at surf shops a lot. Here in Wisconsin, you can’t find them.

Note: If you are staying on Ka’anapali Beach, there’s an ABC convenience store at Whaler’s Village. We went there to buy waters and snacks. It was a 5-minute walk from our hotel.

One very famous town in Maui is called Lahaina. Only 10 minutes away from where we stayed is a famous town called Lahaina, in Maui. Lahaina is super fun! On the main street, there are lots and lots of stores and restaurants. That’s where the fun is at! Our absolutely favorite restaurant in Lahaina was Paia Fish Market. They have the best tacos ever! We loved so much that we went there 4 times! The price was also pretty good, not expensive at all. There is a public parking lot in Lahaina on Prison Street. Everytime we went to Lahaina we were lucky to find a parking spot there. Paia Fish Market is only a few minutes walk from the parking lot.

If you like gelato, you must go to ONO Gelato. There is one located on Lahaina’s main street. My favorite gelato combination is one scoop of passion fruit and one of chocolate! So good! I almost forgot! Lahaina has one the biggest Banyan Tree in the United States. This sprawling tree is so large that it takes a whole block. On the weekends, there’s a little bazaar that happens under this tree.

If you like snorkeling tours you should go on the Calypso boat tour to the Molokini Crater. You should google images of the crater. It is so cool! The tour was very cool and the boat was big. There were seats for everybody, small windows on the lower level of the boat so kids could see underwater, breakfast and lunch included. We made two stops: one to the Molokini Crater and one to the Turtle Town where you can snorkel and potentially see turtles.

I have to say that even though we had two children, one of them being 6 months old, we did a lot of things on our trip. One thing we didn’t do but we will next time (because we already want to go back) is to drive on the Road To Hana. This road is very famous because of its scenic route, and the many stops you can make. On this route, you can stop to see waterfalls, different beaches, there is a plantation that you can visit. The only reason we didn’t make the drive is that we would spend the whole day in the car and it would be too much for the kids.

I almost forgot to mention about The Old Lahaina Luau. We knew going to Hawaii we wanted to go to a Luau. We did a lot of research and The Old Lahaina Luau appeared to be the best luau in Maui. We had an unforgettable evening. Food and drinks are included with the purchase of the ticket. We had such a great time at the Luau. The ambiance is gorgeous, the hosts were very attentive, the show was beautiful and the food was great. If you go to this Luau make sure to try the Lava Float drink, it is delicious!

Soaking up the sun on the hotel’s beach cabana.

A pretty shot of our daily breakfast at Ka’anapali Beach Hotel.

At Faia Fish Market. This is the is the dinner chicken tacos and rice. I was excited to see that restaurant sells Guarana which is a famous and Brazilian soda.

Rapha playing in the water at Baby Beach near Lahaina, Maui.

We took this beautiful family photo at the Old Lahaina Luau. The views from the Luau were absolutely beautiful!

If you plan on visiting Maui in the future I hope this post has helped you figure out where to stay and what to do on the Island. If you know someone who is traveling to Hawaii, share this post with them, Please feel free to message or email me if you have any questions. I would love to answer them for you!

Gabrielle

SWEATER WEATHER

by Gabrielle Loomis January 3, 2018
written by Gabrielle Loomis

I don’t always follow a trend. I don’t wear or do something just to fit in but, the one trend that I am really into right now is velvet. This A&E sweater is made of chenille fabric which looks like velvet and the feel is amazing. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this sweater but, I ordered anyway. I’ve been trying different things lately to try and break out of my comfort zone. I was so happy with this sweater once I tried it on! This sweater looks just like the image on A&E’s website, so what you see is what you get. It has a pretty side tie detail on both sides that I really like and the color is gorgeous! I ordered this sweater in small and it fits me perfectly. You can also get this item in black or other very similar colors on their website. With this sweater weather, a girl can never have enough them, right?! These jeans are from LOFT and they come in regular, petite and tall. They are mid waist and very comfortable. Scroll down to shop this look!

1st POST OF 2018 AND WHAT’S ON MY MIND

by Gabrielle Loomis January 2, 2018
written by Gabrielle Loomis

SHOP THE POST

This is my first post for 2018 and I am so excited for what’s to come this year!!
I am starting the year by trying to eat healthier and workout at least four times a week! If you are into the BBG workout programs by Kayla Itsines, join Steph from Sass and Sun and me for a workout support group! We created an Instagram group to help support each other and stay on track with the program. Send me a message if you want to join!

I wanted to make this post a little more personal and share a few random things that are on my mind. I love TV shows and I watch too many of them. Right now I am really into the Netflix show Riverdale. I am honestly OBSESSED. For those who haven’t yet seen this show, spoiler warning! I am cheering for Betty and Jughead to stay together. They make the cutest couple! If you are not watching that show, then you should. Something unexpected happens in every episode. Totally a binge-worthy show. I am also really into the Bachelor and its spinoffs. As for the new bachelor, Andy, I don’t know much about him. I didn’t watch his run of the show, but the new season looks exciting. The promise of drama is a sure thing, ha. Another thing on my mind is our vacation to Hawaii. The trip is coming up soon and I can’t wait to be on the beach, under the 78-degree weather. My birthday is also coming up. I turn 30 on the 13th and I can’t wrap my mind around that.

Now, let’s talk about this outfit. It has been frigid in the Midwest, so I’ve been staying inside more. Expect to see lots of pictures of me in the house.

I LOVE this bodysuit from TOBI. I’ve worn it many times now. TOBI has lots of cute bodysuits. Check them out here.  As for those Levi jeans, I have been wearing them non-stop. They are comfortable, flattering, and worth the money. I got this Rebecca Minkoff Love Crossbody bag over Christmas and I am completely in love. The neutral color will go along many outfits.

I hope all of you are having a great start to 2018.

Cheers to the New Year!

LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING WITH EVENFLO STROLLER

by Gabrielle Loomis December 19, 2017
written by Gabrielle Loomis

How are we already 6 days away from Christmas? Where did the time go? I think this year went by extremely fast. Maybe because I was pregnant halfway through the year and now my baby is almost 6 months old. Like, what? I don’t know about you but I always have a last minute Holiday shopping to do list. There’s something about Christmas preparation that takes such much time for me.  This last weekend we went shopping for some special Christmas ornaments. Everywhere I go with the kids, I have to bring a stroller with me otherwise, it would be very hard to control two kids. When we went shopping last weekend we got to try out our new stroller from Evenflo. This is the Sibby stroller and it has this cool ride-along board that connects to the back of the stroller, which can easily be removed. Since Rapha likes to chill and walk around wherever we go, the ride-along board makes it easy for him to hop on and out. This Evenflo Sibby stroller also has an extra large basket, which makes a great hiding place for my 2-year-old! The foot rest can be adjusted in three different positions for the comfort of your child. I love that!
The Sibby Evenflo stroller is lightweight and folds really nicely. This stroller is perfect for when I don’t want to bring our double stroller with us. Did I mention that this stroller comes with a car seat too? Plus, I think the price is just right. For under $200 you get the stroller and the car seat. Great deal if you ask me!

You can purchase this stroller here: www.evenflo.com

Hope you guys have a wonderful week!

xx,

Gabrielle

**Thank you to Evenflo for kindly sponsoring this post. All opinions are 100% honest & completely my own.
