Strapless Jampsuit

by Gabrielle Loomis April 25, 2016
written by Gabrielle Loomis

Hi guys. As I’m sitting in bed preparing a few blog posts for this week, I can’t contain myself with joy. My husband is just finishing up a huge project for his work so as things are slowing down for him he was finally able to enjoy the weekend with me and Rapha without having to work. We took our son to the Zoo for the first time and it was pretty fun. Even though he slept right before we saw the elephants and giraffes I think it was a good experience. We also went out with a few friends for a “Brazilian” night down in Milwaukee. Live Bossa Nova music and Brazilian specialty dishes to make the night even better. Last weekend I also had time to take photos of this amazing jumpsuit from Tobi.com. I’ve wanted a black strapless jumpsuit for a while, which is a staple to have in every closet. This jumpsuit looks great for a night out and can easily transition into business casual if you pair it with a jacket. I would highly suggest wearing a good pair of heels to complement this style of jumpsuit. I decided to wear all gold jewelry since that’s what came inside my Rocksbox last week. I will be posting about Rocksbox this week so stay tuned!

Girls just wanna have fun!

by Gabrielle Loomis April 20, 2016
written by Gabrielle Loomis

IT ALL BEGAN WITH A VERY DRAMATIC ENTRANCE

The first recorded roller skate inventor, John Joseph Merlin, originally of Belgium, decided to debut his metal-wheeled roller skates at a fancy masquerade party in London in 1760. Merlin’s plan was to suavely skate into the salon while simultaneously playing a violin. Unfortunately, Merlin hadn’t practiced skating much prior to the soiree, nor were his skates engineered for turning. Merlin ended up crashing into a large mirror and suffering serious physical injuries, though his pride might have been the part of him most severely bruised.

Though many more inventors would create their own versions of the roller skate over the next century, it wasn’t until 1863, when James Plimpton tried his hand at this whole roller-skate-inventing thing, that there came into existence a skate actually capable of turning. Plimpton’s four-wheeled skate made use of springy carriages called trucks that allowed the skater to turn by leaning in the direction of travel. Plimpton built a roller rink in his New York furniture-business office, and he also established the New York Roller Skating Association to promote skating.

The Perfect Summer Dress

Last weekend I went to Minneapolis, MN with my family to visit friends and my hubby’s sister. I haven’t been there in two years so I forgot how fun that city is. On Saturday we had lunch at one of my favorite restaurants on Grand Ave. in St. Paul called Brasa. Make sure to check it out if you in that area. We also went to the coolest coffee shop called Spyhouse Coffee in the North East area. They have a really cool interior design.

Also, the weather there was really amazing…sunny and 75 degrees…it was a perfect weekend to wear a summer dress and sandals. This minty dress is from Tobi.com and it is super adorable. This dress is a great choice to wear during the day or to a festival. I chose to wear this dress with a pair of lace up sandals from Schutz that is very much in style.

SITE WIDE is now 50% OFF making this minty dress under $25!! Also if you are a NEW costumer at Tobi you get 50% Off your first order!

Hi guys, I am so excited to share with you my latest outfit. This jumpsuit from Tobi.com is seriously the BEST casual jumpsuit! The best because it fits amazing and is made of soft and stretchy fabric so it feels very comfortable on the body. This jumpsuit has a drawstring on the waist so you can adjust however you wish, and even though it is kind of slouchy it is very versatile. You can wear it with booties and a jacket on a colder day, with sandals when running errands, or with wedges for a night out with friends. So you can dress it up or down depending on the occasion.

This jumpsuit is under $65 but if you are a NEW costumer at Tobi you get 50% Off their first order! YES, 50% Off! Don’t miss this opportunity and get other things too for your summer wardrobe.

Check out my previous post (here) that I am wearing an adorable off-shoulder romper from Tobi.com as well.

Blueberries! Healthy smoothie bowl receipt! You should try it!

by Gabrielle Loomis April 12, 2016
written by Gabrielle Loomis

Fresh or frozen, these tiny “superfruits” pack a big antioxidant punch. Or better yet, a flurry of punches: Studies suggest that eating blueberries regularly can help improve everything from memory and motor skills to blood pressure and metabolism. (Wild blueberries, in particular, have one of the highest concentrations of the powerful antioxidants known as anthocyanins.)

Blueberries are also lower in calories than a lot of other fruits (they contain just 80 per cup), so you can pile them onto your cereal without worrying about your waistline.

http://www.health.com/

Healthy smoothie bowl receipt

It is made with mixed berries, Greek Yogurt, and Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Almondmilk. With blueberries, bananas, almonds, and granola as toppings, this easy smoothie bowl recipe is the ultimate breakfast of champions. And it’s really, really pretty too. Don’t underestimate the power of cute food.

Smoothie Base

  • 1 cup Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Almondmilk
  • 1 1/2 cups mixed berries, fresh or frozen (if you use frozen, the consistency will be thicker)
  • 3 Tbsp Greek Yogurt, Vanilla, Plain, Berry (if you’re vegan, substituting vegan yogurt will work fine)
  • Ice to thicken (optional, depending upon your desired consistency)

Ingredients

  • Fruit (I used bananas and blueberries)
  • Sliced Almonds
  • Granola (I used gluten-free)
  • Honey, Maple Syrup, or Agave (for added sweetness)
  • Coconut Flakes
  • Chia Seeds

Instructions

With a high-powered blender, blend Almondmilk, berries, Greek Yogurt, and ice until smooth.*
Pour smoothie into a bowl, and add desired toppings. Serve immediately.
Enjoy!

I like my smoothie bowls thick, but if you prefer a thinner consistency, leave out the ice and add more Almondmilk.

Off-shoulder Romper: How to wear

I am a huge fan of rompers and this one from Tobi.com caught my attention right away! The off-shoulder style is probably my favorite summer trend and we are going to be seeing a lot of it on the street. This romper has flare sleeves, which I love and a fun flower pattern. This romper would be perfect to wear on a date night or a festival. Picture this… a straw sun hat, strappy sandals, aviators and this romper. Got it? Perfect festival outfit! Now, have a date night? Wear this romper with a casual pair of heels, like mine and a saddle purse. You are going to “wow” your date!

This “weekend crush romper” is now under $25! Get it now before is gone!

If you are a NEW costumer at Tobi you get 50% Off your first order! YES, 50% Off! Don’t miss this opportunity!

From the innovative surf gear to maritime science, surfing has been collecting stories, records and achievements. Did you know that…

  1. The Hawaiian Islands are the most isolated archipelago on planet earth.
  2. The windiest surf city in the world is Wellington, capital of New Zealand.
  3. The tallest tsunami so far recorded was the 1958 Lituya Bay mega tsunami, which had a record height of 524 meters (1740 feet).
  4. Polyurethane foam was created during the World War II as insulation for refrigerators and airplanes.
  5. The first competition won by a thruster surfboard was the Bells Beach Classic, in 1981.
  6. Mike Stewart was the first to surf Teahupoo in 1987.
  7. Kelly Slater generally starts his day with hot water and lemon.
  8. Swells were used by Polynesian navigators to maintain course when no other clues were available, like in foggy nights.
  9. Tsunami waves can’t be surfed because they’re too fast and only made of whitewater.
  10. Archimedes discovered the law of buoyancy that applies to the surfboard size charts.
  11. Teahupoo, the world’s heaviest wave, has claimed the lives of five surfers since 2000.
  12. Surfing has been considered the 20th most dangerous sport in the world.
  13. A trained surfer can hold his breath for about four minutes, while the static apnea record holder does it for more than 11 minutes.
  14. The highest tides in the world can be found in Canada, at the Bay of Fundy. Sometimes the difference between high and low tide is 16.3 meters (53.5 feet).
  15. “Hawaiian Holiday” is the first animated short surf movie, released in 1937 by Walt Disney.
  16. Mark Foo, the big wave surfer who lost his life at Mavericks, had a passion for martial arts.
  17. Surf wax was first applied to a surfboard by Alfred Gallant Jr., a surfer from Los Angeles, in 1935, after observing the effect of liquid wax on the floors of his home.
  18. There’s a formula to calculate the number of waves you have surfed in your life.
  19. Pat O’Neill, son of wetsuit inventor Jack O’Neill, is responsible for spreading the surf leash, in the early 1970s.

Latest Buys from Clinique

by Gabrielle Loomis March 15, 2016
written by Gabrielle Loomis

Hi guys, today I want to share with you my latest buys from Clinique. I love this makeup and skincare company so I think it’s worth sharing with you the products that I love using. I don’t know if you guys have noticed but I don’t wear a lot of makeup. I am minimalist when it comes to wearing makeup on a daily basis. I do love wearing lipstick and I’ve been looking for a chubby stick type that I could wear daily with just little bit of color. I found this one from Clinique that has a very subtle pink color. It also contains a moisturizer to keep your lips nourished. I love the color: “Woppin Watermelon”, and how natural it looks on my lips. This lipstick color goes with any skin color. It is perfect to wear everyday with any outfit you wear.

Although I’ve said that I don’t wear a lot of makeup, I did try Clinique’s tinted moisturizer for a natural look. This one feels good on the face. Very light and natural plus it has some SPF protection. My shade is # 02. The tinted moisturizer is a great product to wear if you want small skin coverage and a refreshing feel.

No entanto eu adoro usar batom.

I hope you guys like today’s product tip. Leave a comment below if you have any questions or want to know about another product.

See you soon,

Xoxo

Jeans and a T-shirt

by Gabrielle Loomis March 14, 2016
written by Gabrielle Loomis

You can never go wrong wearing jeans and a t-shirt. This is a great outfit to wear during the day and just walk around. I love this tee with blue strips from H&M. It is made out of organic cotton and is super soft. This distressed jeans is from BLANKNYC, it is available at the Nordstrom stores but not online. I did link a few similar distressed jeans for you bellow.

Processed with VSCOcam with a5 preset

H&M Tee (not many sizes left) / BLANKNYC distressed jeans (similar here & here)

I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Uma ótima semana para todos!

Ambitious UK pop singer blazes a path all over the map

by Gabrielle Loomis March 10, 2016
written by Gabrielle Loomis

Honey

British soul rarely sounds this turned up. UK chart-topper Katy B’s third album is an ambitious collaborative effort featuring some of the biggest and buzziest producers around.

She’s the Peckham girl who won’t dance to anyone else’s tune: interviewed back on her old manor, Katy B proves the perfect modern British pop star
The Guardian

Effortlessly moving between genres, she makes sure to put an R&B stamp on each song, keeping all the opposing styles and approaches from veering into chaos. On the album-opening title track, she unleashes a neo-soul vocal over Kaytranada’s sparkling beat. The song blends effortlessly into the more anthemic “Who AM I,” a Major Lazer-helmed reggae fusion in which B is accompanied by passionate vocals from Craig David.

Later, R&B meets grime on the hypnotic earworm “Lose Your Head,” produced by the HeavyTrackerz, and B turns herself into a Nineties house vocalist on her solo version of British DJ-producer KDA’s “Turn the Music Louder (Rumble),” which was released as a single featuring B and Tinie Tempah last year.

Lyrically, she works some of the same emotional territory as her reflective 2014 single “5 AM,” musing on the somber side of life in the club.

On “Calm Down” featuring experimentally-minded electronic producers Four Tet and Floating Points, she muses “When are we ever gonna calm down/Know I should do but I love the sound,” over a rubber band beat. Katy B has a way to go in separating herself from the influx of R&B singers who dabble in dub, but she’s beginning to pave a path worth following.

Honest Beauty Free Trial Review

by Gabrielle Loomis March 2, 2016
written by Gabrielle Loomis

Did you know that The Honest Beauty (aka Jessica Alba’s company) offers a Free Trial for you to try their skin products? Well, I ordered one for me and only paid the $5.95 shipping fee. What a great idea, right?! I like when companies offer free trials because you never know if you are going to like the product. So, before you invest your money in a product, you get a chance to try it for “free”.
So here’s what you do:
1. Go to www.HonestBeauty.com and select Free-Trial. Once you have selected Free-Trial choose if your skin is dry, balanced, or oily.
2. After you have selected what type of skin you have, add the product to your shopping bag and complete the final steps of purchase.
The trial includes four things: cleanse, hydrate, and the protect skincare products, and a makeup bag. Keep in mind that the free trial products are in travel size (5 and 10 ml). Don’t expect the whole 16 oz. bottle.

My Honest Review

This review is for the oily skincare products (my skin type). I have being using all 3 products for the past two weeks and I am not disappointed.
Honest Beauty Gel Cleanser – I tried removing light makeup with the Gel Cleanser and my face felt pretty clean afterwards. What I really liked about the Gel Cleanser is that my face didn’t dry out. I didn’t feel the necessity of apply moisturizer right after.
Honest Beauty Beyond Protect Oil Free (SPF 30 sunscreen) – The fluid of this product has a thicker texture so you have to spread the liquid for a little longer. The scent is ok, but it goes away very fast. It doesn’t leave a greasy finish.
Honest Beauty Moisturizer – I love how my face feels after I use this moisturizer; soft like a baby’s skin. The fluid is very light and the scent is fine.
From all the 3 products I would definitely buy the moisturizer (my favorite) and the gel cleanser.
Remember: all you pay is the shipping cost. Also, very important! When you sign up, you will be automatically enrolled into their monthly subscription that costs $50 a month. You have 7 days after you have received your free trial to call and cancel the subscription if you would like to do so. Otherwise your card will be charged. If you would like to subscribe then you get 3 products of your choice every month as long as you are paying for their beauty bundle.

Have you tried any of their products? I am urging to try all of their lip crayons. Has else anyone tried these products out?
