Prettiest Shade of Blue

by Gabrielle Loomis June 19, 2017
written by Gabrielle Loomis

SHOP MY LOOK: PINK BLUSH FITTED DRESS | FOSSIL BAG (OLD) SIMILLAR HERE | HEELS (OLD) SIMILAR HERE & HERE

Happy Monday, everyone! I am feeling so happy these days. My mom and younger brother will be here in less than two weeks, I am giving birth in less than three weeks, and summer is here! Life is good, and I can’t wait for the exciting things that are happening this summer. Another thing I am excited about is this dress from Pink Blush. I wore this dress twice already and I got so many compliments from strangers (yes, strangers are complementing me). This fitted cami dress has the prettiest shade of blue. It also goes along with a tan, but seriously, anyone would look good in this dress. For this look, I wanted to wear my camel heels and matching color bag. I think camel, and neutral color shoes and handbags go along really well in the summer. This drawstring Fossil bag I’ve had for a few years and it’s one of my favorites. This crossbody bag is not available anymore but I linked a very similar option for you. The heels are from Zara and they are also from a few years back but, I did find very similar options for you to buy.

I hope you guys have a wonderful week!

xx, Gabrielle

Cold Shoulder Maternity Floral Dress

by Gabrielle Loomis June 12, 2017
written by Gabrielle Loomis

SHOP THE LOOK: Pink Blush Dress / Lilly Jade Diaper Bag

I am so excited that I am only 4 weeks away from having our baby boy! After going back and forth with my husband, we finally agreed on a name. Boy, it was hard to make a decision. I will announce his name when he is here next month! Anyways, this little baby inside of me is starting to make this mama a little uncomfortable. Wearing light and comfy dresses makes a big difference when you are pregnant in the summer. This cold shoulder floral dress from Pink Blush is perfect to wear for running errands or just hanging out at home. Pink Blush has great and comfortable maternity and non-maternity clothes. I now own a lot of their dresses and all of them are made with light and breathable material. This, and most of their dresses you can wear before and after pregnancy! I love that!

Have a wonderful week, loves!

Favorite Maternity Summer Dress (Under $55)

by Gabrielle Loomis June 5, 2017
written by Gabrielle Loomis

SHOP THE LOOK: PINK BLUSH DRESS HERE / San Edelman Tan Heels (Similar)

I am so happy to be collaborating with Pink Blush again! You guys, I really love their maternity and non-maternity clothes. Since I’ve been wearing a lot of black clothes lately, I decided to get this adorable dress that has a fun diamond stripe print. This is my new favorite maternity summer dress. This dress has 3/4 sleeves and double lined to prevent sheerness. This is from their maternity line but I bet I can wear it after I loose the baby bump. There are many ways to wear this dress. For a date night, you can wear a pair of nude heels and pair it with a neutral color purse. I chose to wear minimal gold jewelry, but you can wear a fun long necklace with this v-neck dress. If you want to dress it down, you can wear a pair of wedges or pretty sandals, and stack a lot of fun bracelets. You can put your hair up on a bun and you are ready to go! This dress is very flattering and it’s not form fitting.

You can shop this dress here. They have two different colors available. I also found this exact same dress with different patterns: option 1 here and option 2 here.

This is my new favorite maternity summer dress. I am wearing a size small. Let me know if you guys have any questions on sizing.

Much love,

Xx, Gabrielle

Little Black Dress

by Gabrielle Loomis May 30, 2017
written by Gabrielle Loomis

Shop the look: Gap Halter Dress / Sam Edelman at DSW

Helloo babes! How was everybody’s Holiday weekend? I just love a 3 day weekend and the fact that my hubby gets to spend that one extra day with us. We were having people over for a little party on Sunday, but the weather wasn’t looking very good. It rained and stormed in the morning and I almost canceled our party. Right at noon, the rain stopped and we got a beautiful sunshine. This was a good weekend to kick off the summer!

A little update on the baby. He’s growing and moving like crazy. I am 34 weeks now. Wohoo! I am counting down the weeks until this baby boy is here.

On a fashionable note, I got this little black halter dress from Gap and I it’s one of the most comfortable dresses I own. This is not a maternity dress but the material is stretchy so I can wear now and after I have my baby. I usually don’t wear a lot of black, in fact, I never own this many black dresses until this second pregnancy. When you are pregnant it’s easy to wear black dresses because they are very flattering on any body and shape. I wore this little black dress to my sis-in-law’s graduation last weekend. I paired this dress with my new favorite of heels from Sam Edelman. Those nude heels are easy to pair with any color dress and extremely comfortable.

Have a wonderful week, loves.

Maternity Overalls

by Gabrielle Loomis May 23, 2017
written by Gabrielle Loomis

My husband may not be the biggest fan of these overalls but I am! Okay, after I had my hat on, and my Stan Smith sneakers he said: “okay, you look pretty cute”. All he needed to see was the end result! During my first, and now second pregnancy all I look for on clothes is comfort. After all, when you get to your third trimester, you start feeling uncomfortable because the baby inside of you is getting bigger and bigger. I’ve been buying a lot of things from Asos. They have a great selection of maternity clothes and they are pretty reasonable.

This romper I am ready (#2) is almost out of stock, but I selected a few other ones that are really similar to this one.

#1 Maternity Overall

#2 Maternity Overall

#3 Maternity Overall

ADIDAS Stan Smith sneakers

What did you guys think? I love this overall trend. Do you?

The Best of Floral Dresses

by Gabrielle Loomis May 18, 2017
written by Gabrielle Loomis

I think 80% of my summer clothes are floral dresses. They are just perfect to wear in the summer months. I think one of the reasons why I love wearing floral is because of my Brazilian roots. In Brazil, everything is colorful and happy. When shopping, you can find a variety of one of a kind garments with a wide assortment of patterns. This dress I’m wearing is from one of my favorite Brazilian stores called Farm Rio. I heard they are going to open a store in NY!! It would be absolutely amazing if this really happens, I would have to take a quick trip to NY! Anyways, floral dresses are so easy and fun to wear. I am so glad I can wear this one even with my baby bump.

I rounded up the best of floral dresses for you guys, from a high to low price point. Let me know which one is your favorite!

Bump Update: 32 Weeks

by Gabrielle Loomis May 15, 2017
written by Gabrielle Loomis

Hellooo loves! I haven’t done a baby bump update in a while so I thought I would share it with you today. Things are starting to get more real. Baby boy is moving like crazy and it’s getting uncomfortable for me to sit for too long. I’ve been making two trips to the bathroom at night (not fun), and I’ve been very tired lately. I’ve been telling Rapha that he is going to have a baby brother. I don’t think he quite understands yet. When I ask if he wants a brother he usually tells me “no”…so that will be interesting. He loves babies and he is very kind and loving with them, so I think we will be fine.

Here’s a little update on the baby.

How far long: 32 weeks, and 2 days.

Weight: Gained about 25 pounds so far. There were three months that I gained 5 pounds each month. My doctor said It was okay since I didn’t gain much in the begging of the pregnancy. Still, I am trying to slow down and make better choices. I was happy to have gained only 3 pounds in the last month.

Gender: I think most of you know that I am having another boy. I love boys, and I am so thrilled that I am having another one. We are 97% sure on the name. I will share it with you guys when we are 100% sure of his name.

Symptoms: I’ve been feeling very tired lately. Like, really tired! I could take a nap every day and I do maybe once a week. I feel guilty for taking naps so I usually don’t do it. Like I mentioned before I’ve going to the bathroom one to two times at times. I really don’t like getting up in the middle of the night. I have been having acid reflux at night, and it is always after I eat something heavier or spicy like Mexican food.

Movement: A LOT of movement. I think he is practicing kickboxing. I feel him moving all day and before bed.

What I miss: I miss having a drink when everybody is having one at dinner. I miss my body and wearing my normal clothes. I also miss having more energy and running.

Cravings: Surprisingly enough, I’m not craving much lately. In the beginning, I was craving burgers. Now, I like having a little piece of chocolate every day. But the cravings aren’t bad at all.

Have a wonderful week, everybody!

xoxo, Gabi

Easy Strolls with Evenflo

by Gabrielle Loomis May 10, 2017
written by Gabrielle Loomis

One of my favorite things to do in the Spring is to go for walks and get some fresh air. Thankfully the weather has been cooperating and we have started to go on our daily walks again. Almost every day after breakfast, Rapha, me and our puppy Zeus, go for a walk either in our neighborhood or in town. When we don’t bring our puppy with us we like to go into the coffee shops to get a drink and a pastry. I am so glad that Rapha likes being in his stroller because that makes our walks so much easier and enjoyable.

I’ve mentioned before in another post that I love how much storage this Evenflo stroller holds. I have a big diaper bag that fits perfectly under this stroller along with other things. This stroller has an awesome seat that can be turned into a bassinet. This bassinet will come in handy when baby number 2 is here this Summer. I don’t know if Rapha is going to like to share his stroller with his new bro, but we will have to wait and see.

I am really looking forward to this Summer and the time we will spend doing outdoor activities.

Shop this Evenflo stroller here!

Have a wonderful week, loves!

xx, Gabrielle

Hilton Head Vacation Recap and Mini Guide

by Gabrielle Loomis May 8, 2017
written by Gabrielle Loomis

Midwest, I am back home! If you followed me on Instagram Stories last week (@colormesassy), you saw how much fun I had on our family vacation at Hilton Head, SC. It has always been a dream of mine to visit the Island and am so grateful we were able to go there.

We started our trip on a Saturday. We flew into Charleston’s airport and drove two hours to Hilton Head Island. I was completely surprised by how much green I saw. The highways were so different from ours in the Midwest. We drove through tunnels and tunnels of trees and it was gorgeous! The commute to get to our final destination was a little tiring: two flights plus 2 hours drive, but it was worth it.

We stayed at an oceanfront condo in Palmetto Dunes called Villamare. The condo was rented through VRBO  (Vacation Rental by Owner). It was so relaxing to wake up every morning with the sound of the ocean and the bright sun shining through our big windows. If you know me, you know how much I miss the beach and warm days of Summer. This trip was what we all needed: a relaxing and stress-free time. Our days consisted of going to the beach and letting Rapha play with the sand, beach walks, pool time, exploring the shopping area and restaurants.

PLACES WE ATE:

The Salty Dog Cafe – We had a great dining experience at the Salty Dog Cafe. Even though I was craving a burger that day, everybody else in our table ordered some kind of fish or the Seafood Pot Pie. My husband ordered the pot pie and it was fabulous and huge. If you like pot pies, this pie is a must try!

The Salty Dog Ice Cream – The Salty Dog Ice Cream is right next to the Salty Dog Cafe. If you like ice cream you must try their homemade ice cream. I would encourage you to taste their key lime pie ice cream. That was one of the most delicious ice creams I’ve ever had.

Note: you have to pay $6 dollars per car to enter that area which is called Sea Pines. There are also lots of cute shops in between the restaurants.

Skull Creek Boathouse – This is a must go restaurant! Skull Creek Boathouse is a very famous restaurant on the Island. On the weekends they have live music on the deck and I encourage you to get there early to get a table. Most restaurants there don’t accept reservations so keep that in mind before you head out to dinner. Pretty much every restaurant there serves the famous “hushpuppies” (deep-fried cornbread balls) and Skull Creek had the best ones.

This picture doesn’t make justice of how cool the patio looks.

Old Oyster Factory – Taste of southern charm, that’s how I would describe Old Oyster Factory. Dressier than the other restaurants listed, this 4 1/2 star restaurant has great service and delicious food. Their grouper and triggerfish were absolutely amazing.

The Crazy Crab – The Crazy Crab restaurant was another great restaurant. I don’t eat crab but, my sister-in-law raved how wonderful their crab legs were.

Frosty Frog Cafe – If you want something simple to eat, like pizza or a burger, Frosty Frog Cafe is just what you need. This restaurant is located at Coligny Plaza, so you can shop after you have a bite to eat.

Frozen Moo – Another great place for ice cream is Frozen Moo. They offer 92 flavors of ice cream! This place is also located at Coligny Plaza.

Southern Coney & Breakfast – On our last day in Hilton Head we had breakfast at Southern Coney and I have to tell you…their pancakes were very fluffy and absolutely delicious. They also have mouth-watering cheesy biscuit sandwiches. This is a must go diner for breakfast.

Big Jim’s BBQ – I wouldn’t go back to Big Jim’s BBQ unless they change their food. We had lunch there one day and it was terrible. I had a pork quesadilla that was tasteless and my hubby had the beef brisket with pulled pork and it was dry and terrible as well.

SHOPPING:

There’s shopping everywhere on the Island. I personally love little boutiques with different and unique clothing. One of my favorites was called Coastal Bliss located in the Shelter Cover Town Centre. There is also a Tanger outlet mall if you want to spend the day shopping at big stores like Pandora, Polo, and White House Black Market. I love to shop but I didn’t do too much shopping this trip. All I wanted to do was relax… and eat ice cream, obviously.

Note: I wouldn’t swim in the ocean because of sharks. My husband saw two fishermen catch a baby bull shark right on the shore. You also have to be careful with crocodiles. We were cautious not to get close to the rivers and luckily we didn’t see any, but warning signs are everywhere!

We mainly stayed on the Island but we went to Savannah, GA for the day and on our last day we went to Charleston’s for a few hours before we had to head to the airport.

From Hilton Head to Savannah, GA is only a 50-minute drive. Since the city is full of history we decided to to a trolley tour around the city. I recommend doing a tour if you plan on spending a day or more in the city. This is the best way to thoroughly understand Savannah’s amazing history.

After the tour, we went out to dinner at one of Savannah’s most iconic and highly rated restaurants: The Olde Pink House. This house was built in 1771 and it’s one of Savannah’s most important early cotton factors and founding-family members. If you want to have dinner there you have to make a reservation days prior to your visit. We were able to get seated in the basement dining area only because we waited at the bar 40 minutes before the dining room opened.

Our last day in South Carolina, we spent in Charleston. We actually only spent a few hours before we head over to the airport. In Charleston, we walked around City Market wich consists in 3 blocks of vendors and artists selling jewelry, clothes, art and more! Really cool place to visit. I wish we had more time in Charleston because the city is full of attractions and things to do.

I hope you guys enjoyed my mini guide to Hilton Head. Hands down one of my new favorite places to go, relax, and have a great time!

If you guys have any questions don’t resitate and send me an email or a message below.

Have a wonderful week!

xx, Gabrielle

Mother’s Day Gift Idea with L’Occitane

by Gabrielle Loomis May 1, 2017
written by Gabrielle Loomis

It’s again that time of the year when we celebrate the woman who raised us with so much love. I became a mom myself two years ago. The first time I celebrated Mother’s Day (as a mom), it was kind of surreal to me. That day made me realize how important this “mom job” is: it’s made of sacrifices, it’s rewarding, exhausting, fulfilling, fun and crazy all at the same time. Being a mom is a lifelong commitment and it should be celebrated in a special way.

Since Mother’s Day is right around the corner, May 14th, you should be planning ahead so you can give her a thoughtful gift. I partnered with L’Occitane to show you one of their limited Mother’s Day gift boxes. I was very impressed with the packaging and the contents of the box. Opening the box was so exciting, I didn’t know what to expect. As I opened the box and read about each product, my excitement grew and I couldn’t wait to try everything out. I’ve been using the foot, hand, and body cream every day. They not only smell amazing but they make my skin feel really hydrated. This particular gift box comes with:

  • Shea Butter Hand Cream
  • Shea Butter Foot Cream
  • Shea Butter Ultra Rich Body Cream
  • Shea Butter Shower Cream
  • Shea Butter Milk Soap

L’Occitane has a variety of other great gift boxes, there’s something for every mom. Here you can find other Mother’s Day Gift boxes for your mom.

Your mom deserves the best, so give her with a home-spa experience that will make her feel pampered.

Watch the video where I open the box with my son and he is having so much fun with it!

Have a wonderful week, loves.

xx, Gabrielle

5 Mama Must-Haves for Before and After Pregnancy

by Gabrielle Loomis April 27, 2017
written by Gabrielle Loomis

If you are expecting your first, second, or third baby, you need some special things before that new baby is here. I am actually talking about you, mama! Your new baby needs a lot of things like a stroller, a car seat, newborn clothes, but you need a few things too. Bellow is a list of mama must-haves for before and after pregnancy:

1# To start, you are going to need a very comfortable pajama set. I personally love my maternity pajamas from You! Lingerie. The top has nursing clips so you can easily open and close the bras when nursing the baby. Plus, the fabric is extremely comfortable for a good night of sleep. Check out my blog post about the pajama set.

2# If you want to be free of stretch marks you have to apply oil not only on your belly, but on your legs, and breasts too. This doesn’t mean you won’t get any stretch marks but it will definitely prevent you big time from getting them. On my first, and now second pregnancy, I use pure almond oil on my body. I got this I use in Brazil and that’s what most people use. The more concentrated the oil or lotion, the better. I tend to apply the oil after I shower. Shea Moisture.

3# If you are planning on nursing your baby and you are producing a lot of milk, you are going to need nursing pads. You can purchase disposable ones or the washable kind. Bamboobies sell great washable nursing pads. Bamboobies is a great brand of nursing pads.

4# Nursing ponchos or nursing scarves are a great accessory if you are going to breastfeed your baby in public. You can find them in numerous kinds and shapes. Target Nursing Scarf.

5# Breastfeeding cream is a must to protect sore and cracked nipples. I personally love this brand of nipple cream Lansinoh (Lanolin). I used when I was breastfeeding Rapha and it was a life savor!

What are some of your pregnancy must-haves?

Xo, Gabrielle
